About us

Tony Fernando:

I have played bass, og loved  being on  stage for nearly 30 years. I have been fortunate and travelled through Nepal, Germany,Denmark, and Norway with a proffetional band from Sri Lanka  during the period 1975 - 1980, and experienced a lot. I have met lot's of people from all over the world throughout these years, and achieved a lot of experience. The musicians i played with were clever and are proffetionals.

Everthing changed when i met my wife in Oslo one beautiful evening in spring, and it was love at first sight. We got married i 1980, and i moved to Verdal in the middel of Norway.

After a year's break with music, i started my own band Tony & Friend's. I have always dreamed of calling my band for Friend's.

We in Friend’s  play  all kinds of  music. Everything from pop, coversongs, 70's and 80's music and of course  the local and traditional music like the polka, pols, waltz and the reinlender. I was attracted towards the traditional music from the moment i heard it. The piano accordian, and it's accustic made me very curious. I loved the pols, and reinlender, and thought they had a lovely beat, and rythem.

I am very occupied of what we play for the public and which song's we choose. Jan Arild Hansen has played accordian since he was 6 year's and is a genius.  He has contributed a lot of new  shade's of technique, and made me to understand the traditional music and the love for it.  Stig Holum is a maestro on the gitar, and play's all types of music. He play's electric and classical gitar. Everybody sing's and harmonize in the band.

Tony & Friends is a experienced band who play's  a variety of different music, and love's to have make the audience to groove.  Our music is for the "grown up's" and for the  "young one's". The band started originally as a trio in 1982, then to a quartet during the period 1989-1992, and trio again. Since then we are a trio, and  love what we do

April 2006.

Best wishes

Tony Fernando
